How to Measure Your Head for a Cosplay Helmet

Good helmet sizing starts with accurate measurements. A quick guess based on a hat size may not provide enough information for a made-to-order cosplay helmet, so use a flexible measuring tape and write down each measurement before ordering.
Measurements to take
- Head circumference: Wrap the tape around the widest part of your head, passing above the eyebrows and around the back of the skull. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug.
- Front to back: Measure from the center of your forehead over the top of your head to the furthest point at the back.
- Side to side: Measure over the top of your head from just above one ear to just above the other.
Tips for a cleaner measurement
Measure at least twice and use the same units each time. Keep your hairstyle close to how you expect to wear it with the helmet. If you plan to use a balaclava or thin liner, account for it without adding a large amount of extra space. Ask another person to help if the tape shifts while you measure.
